Looking to purchase a new vehicle in 2019? The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has got you covered.
AJAC released a list of the best vehicles across 12 different categories on Thursday, with Mazda coming out on top in three categories, followed by Kia, which claimed two awards.
Mazda’s MX-5 was the best sports-performance car for 2019, while its CX-5 was the top mid-sized premium car and the CX-9 claimed the title of best large utility vehicle. The Kia Forte was voted the best small car in Canada, while the Kia Stinger was the best large car.
The awards were picked by nearly 70 AJAC members who had driven the 55 vehicles that were submitted for consideration over more than six months.
“Canadians can look to this list with confidence, knowing that each vehicle has been chosen as being a standout in its segment by experts who understand the unique challenges of daily driving in this country,” said Mark Richardson, president of AJAC, in a statement.
The 12 cars now qualify for the association’s Canadian Car and Canadian Utility Vehicle awards, which AJAC says are designed to inform Canadians about which vehicles are best suited for drivers in Canada. The winners will be unveiled at the Montreal Auto Show next week.
