Lori Loughlin and Olivia Jade Are Talking But Are 'Far From Being Close' Again

From ELLE

Entertainment Tonightgot an update on how Lori Loughlin and her daughter Olivia Jade's strained relationship is going this summer before Lori and her husband Mossimo Giannulli fight their college admission cheating scandal indictments in court in October. It is better...but not great.

A source told the outlet that Olivia and her mother are talking now but "are far from being close again," the outlet wrote.

"Their family situation has improved," one source said. "Lori knows they will all grow and learn."

"Things are better than they were," a second source added. "Time is helping to heal."

Back in April, Us Weekly reported that Olivia was speaking to Lori after initially giving her the cold shoulder for weeks after the college admission scandal broke. In the weeks immediately after the scandal, Olivia left her parents' house and moved in with her boyfriend Jackson Guthy. Jackson and Olivia broke up in May then got back together in June, although Olivia has her own apartment now.

A source told Us Weekly in April, “Olivia was angry with her parents at first, but now realizes that they were just trying to do what’s best for her. Olivia loves her mom and dad very much, but is especially close with Lori.”

That development comes after the outlet initially reported on March 21 that Olivia was "very upset" with her parents. "[She] blames her mom and dad for this scandal and for the downfall of her career."

Entertainment Tonight echoed this in its own report in May, suggesting that even though Olivia and Lori were talking, their relationship is still pretty damaged.

"Olivia is having a very hard time dealing with this, and for the most part, she's cut herself off from her mother and is going out and partying a lot," a source told the outlet at the time. "She feels she hasn't been a part of any wrongdoing and feels tricked by her parents into going to a school that wasn't even her top choice. Right now she wants to prove she can do it on her own, and she thinks going back to school will help renew her image."
