Love Island fans slam 'hypocrite' Montana Brown for calling Anton Danyluk 'ugly' and 'not manly'

Love Island fans have criticised Montana Brown for calling Anton Danyluk “ugly” after campaigning for people to be nicer to each other and mindful of mental health.

Brown has acted as an advocate for anti-bullying, mental health awareness and respecting each other in the wake of the death of ex co-star and friend Mike Thalassitis earlier this year.

But fans were unhappy when Brown, who rose to fame on series two of Love Island, laid into Anton’s appearance during a chat about this season, calling him “ugly” and “not manly”.

“He’s ugly,” Brown told Heat magazine. “He is so overly-preened it’s not manly at all.

“Like, stop getting your eyebrows plucked, stop getting your a** waxed.”

Viewers of the video interview quickly hit out at Brown’s comments, branding her a “hypocrite” for urging fans to “be kind” but knocking the Scot’s looks.

One wrote: “Montana Brown, up on her high horse preaching about being kinder to others and what not but it’s ok for her to say that Anton is ugly in an interview? Such a hypocrite.”

Another said: “Why is Montana calling Anton 'ugly' after she was preaching about being kinder to everyone and the importance of good mental health?? like seriously #loveisland.”

“Can’t believe Montana from Love Island goes on about mental health yet she’s sat in an interview and called Anton names for no reason?? Can’t wrap my head around it #LoveIsIand,” wrote somebody else.

Earlier this month, Brown, 23, pleaded with people to “be kind” as she gave a heartfelt speech outside North London Coroner’s Court after Thalassitis’ inquest, which recorded a verdict of suicide aged 26.

Brown said: “Just like I said in my speech at his funeral I think everyone should be a little bit nicer, little bit kinder.

“It’s such an awful world that we live in so it’s just nice to be nice, so I’ve definitely changed the way that I live my life and I urge people to do the same.”

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm
