Low-income people in NH get $25M in heating funds

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Low-income people in New Hampshire will be getting nearly $25 million in federal heating assistance funds.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is making $2.9 billion available nationwide from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance program, or LIHEAP, of which New Hampshire will get $24.6 million.

In the first release of funds, New Hampshire will receive $22.1 million.

DHHS says it will release another $354 million nationally, including $2.5 million for New Hampshire, once Congress passes a budget through the remainder of the current fiscal year.
