Major deal involving SiriusXM, Michael Kors eyes Versace, possible changes at WPP

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

Starting with a big deal in the music streaming world. SiriusXM is buying Pandora in a $3.5B all-stock deal. The buyout will create the world’s largest audio entertainment company, with more than 100 million active users.

Two fashion icons could soon be joining forces. Bloomberg says Michael Kors is in talks to buy Versace. The deal could top $2B, and the Versace family reportedly would continue to have a role in the company. Just last year, Kors bought shoemaker Jimmy Choo for $1.2B.

Some more changes may be coming at advertising giant WPP.  The Wall Street Journal says the new CEO, Mark Read, is considering merging legendary ad agency Young and Rubicam, with WPP’s digital ad firm VML. The company has said  its marquee ad agencies aren’t growing as fast as the digital operations. WPP paid $4.7B for Young and Rubicam back in 2000.

Say goodbye too Weight Watchers and hello to WW. The company is changing its name and adopting a new tagline: “Wellness that works.” The CEO says they’re looking to expand their mission beyond weight loss to science-based wellness solutions, and they are making a bigger push into technology, with an updated app focused on healthy habits.
