Major traffic changes coming to intersection of Ohios 256 and 37
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Drivers taking either Ohio 256 or Ohio 37 may have noticed new signage and warnings about construction. If not, they should keep an eye on the intersection as the Ohio Department of Transportation has started a major construction project at their intersection, east of Baltimore.
ODOT announced the planned construction project will add left-turn lanes to all directions of travel, and new traffic patterns will be installed as well.
According to the project page, Ohio 37 northbound and Ohio 256 eastbound will be the first lanes targeted. Ohio 37 southbound and Ohio 256 westbound will both remain open. The north- and eastbound lanes are expected to remain closed throughout most of the project.
The state has posted a detour for both the north- and eastbound lanes. For northbound traffic, drivers should take Ohio 37 to US 22, or Lancaster's Main Street, to Ohio 158, then drive to Interstate 70, then exiting on Ohio 37. Local traffic can travel on Ohio 37 to Pleasantville Road, to Old Millersport Road, to Canal Road, back to Ohio 37.
For the eastbound route, drivers can travel from Ohio 256 to Ohio 158 to Lancaster's Main Street (US 22), to Ohio 188 to Ohio 256. The local traffic can travel along Ohio 256 to Ohio 158 to Pleasantville Road to Old Millersport Road, back to Ohio 256.
