Majority owners of airline Avianca arrested in Brazil corruption probe, source says

BRASILIA, Aug 19 (Reuters) - The majority owners of Colombia's Avianca Holdings, brothers German and Jose Efromovich, were arrested on Wednesday in a new phase of Brazil's Lava Jato corruption probe, according to a source briefed on the matter.

The source said the arrests are related to allegations the brothers paid bribes to get a ship contract from a logistics unit of oil company Petroleo Brasileiro known as Transpetro. (Reporting by Ricardo Brito, writing by Stephen Eisenhammer Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
