Malaysian actor Anna Jobling responds to netizens' comments that her mother looks like her 'maid'

Malaysian actor Anna Jobling addressed netizens over negative comments targeting her mother’s appearance in a viral TikTok video.

The video, which has garnered over 1.6 million views, features seven photos taken of the 22-year-old actor and her mother. Netizens commented on Jobling’s mother’s appearance, with many users saying that her mother looks like a “maid.”

“I thought that was her maid,” one user wrote. “I even said that it’s nice of her to respect her maid.”

“How the mother gets a handsome husband,” another person said.

In a recent interview with Xtra, Jobling addressed the negative comments and clapped back at disrespectful netizens.

“Why would you disrespect someone’s mom like that? For me, you disrespected my family,” Jobling said. “If you have a problem with me, just say it to my face, don’t drag my family into this because they are not bothering anybody.

“I told my mom about it and [thank God] my mom is a strong person, and she doesn’t care about any of it,” she added.

Jobling was born to an English father from the United Kingdom and a native Malaysian mother. Before acting, she first pursued modeling and was involved in beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Tourism Pahang in 2018. Jobling is known for her roles in the 2020 film “Pasal Kau!” and the 2021 film “Penunggang Agama 2.”

“I think maybe because I’m a public figure, they think they have the right to comment on everything about me,” Jobling told Xtra. “Why can’t you just comment about my work, my drama, my acting, my theaters, why would you involve my family?”
