Man charged with murder after 21-year-old woman dies in Huddersfield street
A man has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old woman who died in a Huddersfield street.
Paul Crowther is accused of killing Bethany Fields after she was found with serious injuries in the town centre on Thursday evening.
The 35-year-old will appear at Kirklees Magistrates Court later this week, charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
Ms Fields’ parents said in a statement that the student from Leeds was “beautiful, talented, ambitious, intelligent, kind”.
They said: “A daughter, who any parent would have been proud of, much loved and respected by all; family, friends, work colleagues and fellow students.
"Bethany had a bright future ahead of her. She was studying environmental geography at university, travelling to Iceland to study the effects of glacial melts on the environment and to the Canary Islands to study volcanoes.”
They added: "She was musically gifted, starting on a music mentoring course and gradually during the holidays working at a studio. More recently, she worked with a charitable organisation for people with physical and learning difficulties. Through this, she brought much joy and pleasure into other people’s lives.

West Yorkshire Police said Crowther, of nearby Birstall, had been remanded in custody.
