Manpower gains on strong results

European Strength Lifts Staffing Firm

Manpower earned $1.26 a share in the third quarter on revenue of $5.2 billion. Analysts had only expected $1.09 and $5.1 billion, respectively. MAN rallies almost 5 percent before the opening bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

VF Higher on Stock Split, Profit Beat

VF Corp. earned $3.91, better than the $3.78 forecast by analysts. Revenue missed slightly, but management also announced a 4-for-1 stock split. VFC, which closed at $204.30 last week, climbs 3 percent in early trading.

Tellabs Going Private for $891 Million

Tellabs agreed to be purchased by Marlin Partners for $891 million, or $2.45 a share. TLAB rallies 6 percent on the news.
