Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto has a little bit of a reputation. He likes to make trades. Many trades. ALLLL the trades, if we’re being honest. His is a team that set a record for offseason moves in the 2017 offseason and then did another big roster overhaul for this season.
It was enough to make us wonder whether Dipoto also likes to trade baseball cards. On this week’s episode of “Old Baseball Cards” we got a resounding answer: Hell yeah he does. On this week’s episode, we make a record-breaking number of trades — and Dipoto seems to love every minute of it.
If you’re new to this series, welcome aboard. We open old baseball cards with baseball players, coaches, famous fans and now executives. It all started with a bunch of cards there were sitting in my garage 25 years after my grandma bought them. That era of baseball cards isn’t worth much, so instead we open the cards with baseball people and hope they inspire great stories. We have plenty of fun episodes below for you to watch.
