BOSTON (AP) -- Questions about mortgages, health care, auto and home insurance, and foreign lottery scams are among the top consumer complaints in Massachusetts.
Officials from the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs, the Attorney General's Office, U.S. Postal Inspectors Office and Better Business Bureau announced each agency's top five consumer gripes for 2012 on Monday.
Consumer Affairs Undersecretary Barbara Anthony said the top complaints for consumers contacting her office in 2012 were related to auto insurance and health insurance.
Anthony said over 10,000 people approached the office with questions about auto insurance claims. Another 7,700 people called with health insurance questions.
Attorney General Martha Coakley said one of her office's top consumer complaints concerned unsolicited loan modification and foreclosure assistance.
Consumers also called about the state's used car "lemon law" and home improvement contractors.
