PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Matthews International Corp. (MATW) on Thursday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $71.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had a loss of $2.28. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and amortization costs, came to $1.01 per share.
The casket and memorial manufacturer posted revenue of $392.4 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $38 million, or $1.21 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.54 billion.
Matthews International shares have fallen 12% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $35.60, a fall of 17% in the last 12 months.
