Mavericks to donate Wednesday's single-game ticket sales to Hurricane Maria relief
The Dallas Mavericks raised over $120,000 to help aid hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico on Wednesday night.
Pledging to donate all proceeds from Wednesday’s single-seat ticket sales from the Mavericks’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told The Dallas Morning News two hours before tipoff that $120,000 worth of single-ticket sales had been sold.
That figure doesn’t count all the ticket sales that were most likely sold in the ensuing two hours.
Wednesday’s efforts by the Mavericks was one of many done by the organization in the past month. The Mavericks’ team jet has made five trips to Puerto Rico to carry food, water, generators and other items.

Mavericks guard J.J. Barea, a Puerto Rico native, has been spearheading the efforts, along with Cuban.
“It’s been amazing — the help, and Cuban’s idea of all this, and the planes,” Barea told the Dallas Morning News. “There’s no words I can say to describe it. I know the people in Puerto Rico are super-grateful for all we are doing.”
