With the half-year mark already passed, there’s arguably a general consensus that 2020 has driven home the cliché, “Expect the unexpected.” In addition to being the tagline for the reality TV competition series “Big Brother,” this age-old adage can be applied to life, in general, especially when it comes to interacting and staying connected during uncertain times.

While many of us use several different avenues and methods to stay in touch with our loved ones and friends, likely the most common is through the use of mobile devices. And, with the current state of the world leading to an increase in unemployment, most companies in the wireless industry have been making a conscious effort to ensure that Americans stay connected.

According to USA Today, several phone and wireless Internet companies have been making adjustments to their standard customer payment practices, with some suspending the termination of services completely when customers can’t pay their bills due to unemployment or other hardships. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has also coordinated with major carriers in March 2020 to launch the Keep Americans Connected Pledge for an extra layer of protection.

While these adjustments are sure to make a temporary difference in the lives of those who have been financially hit the hardest during this pandemic, the reintroduction of regular payments, once things stabilize, is sure to be a shock to some — one that many may not be able to support and maintain while getting back on their feet.

What may be considered the most convenient and desirable way to offset this change is finding a wireless plan that checks all of the boxes to fulfill the average consumer’s basic connectivity needs while also being priced at an affordable rate. Right now, that would entail a package that includes unlimited talk, text and data that is, most importantly, not contract-bound.

While it’s reported that the average wireless customer pays a minimum of $84 a month for an unlimited mobile plan and with one of the most basic unlimited plan offerings of 2020 coming in at a monthly cost of $60, there is another option on the market and, unlike most others, requires no contract to sign up and is even cheaper.
