Mayor of Toronto defends Drake's courtside antics

The Toronto Raptors are one win away from their first appearance in the NBA Finals, and yet the conversation is still finding a way to centre around the way the team’s most famous fan is celebrating.

So far in the playoffs, he’s had the daughter of the Milwaukee Bucks trying to start a beef, been criticized by the Bucks coach and players, given passionate post-game impromptu press conferences, exorcized the demons of the logo curse, handed out free massages, gotten a $760,000 jacket, riled up Charles Barkley, and done pretty much everything short of checking into the lineup to play.

Now, as the series creeps closer to completion, he has political allies on his side as well.

This tweet raises several more questions than it gives answers. Someone asked Mayor John Tory about Drake? Why? Did Tory draw that gif himself by hand, or did he take it on a Motorola Razr?

The Mayor is right on one count, and that’s that as long as the only people being aggravated by Drake’s antics are Bucks fans then something is going very right. The final note of “I don’t have to do it!” does call into imagination a scenario where, with Drake out of town, Mayor Tory is the one on the sidelines whooping it up and playing air guitar while invading the personal space of head coach Nick Nurse.

Drizzy already got the key to the city at the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend, he’s already got the crazy expensive jacket, naming rights to the practice facility, and courtside seats. What can he possibly do to top his performance if the Raptors go all the way?
