McDavid encourages young leukemia patient who got his jersey for Christmas
Christmas can always be a time of year that brings light to people’s lives. There’s not a lot that can match the excitement the holiday season can bring to children — even those facing really trying circumstances.
A perfect example of that came on Wednesday for four-year-old leukemia patient and number one Connor McDavid fan Owen. The Buffalo resident, who loves the Edmonton Oilers and their superstar for mysterious reasons, had a Christmas to remember when he received his hero’s jersey. It was taken to the next level when he got some encouragement from the man himself.
Stay strong Owen! Merry Christmas to you and your family #OwenStrong https://t.co/zGM1ORrJf8

The Oilers also made sure to chime in to wish Owen a Merry Christmas:
Merry Christmas, Owen! 💙🧡

Little stories like this just go to show how much power athletes have to make magical memories for their fans. It may not take a lot of effort, but that doesn’t mean McDavid shouldn’t be commended.
In what’s likely a sea of Twitter mentions, the best hockey player on earth found a spot where he could make a little bit of a difference for someone — and he took the time to do it.
