Surprise: Meghan Markle just arrived for a secret solo event today at Hubb Community Kitchen-an engagement the Palace did not announce until it was happening.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a red Club Monaco coat and dress to visit the women she helped create a cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook, with earlier this year. It was her first major solo project as working royal.

Meghan's dress is still available on the site:

According to Kensington Palace's Twitter, Meghan is visiting the kitchen today to see "how the proceeds from ‘Together: Our Community Cookbook’ are already making a difference locally," the Palace wrote. "The Duchess has made regular private visits to the kitchen since January, which was set up by women from the community affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. Through the power of cooking, the women have been able to connect, heal and look forward. Thanks to the funds raised from ‘Together’, the kitchen has been completely renovated, with the women’s input, capturing the joyful spirit of the Hubb Community Kitchen and providing a safe, professional space to unite the community through food."

At the kitchen, Meghan helped prepare some of the food with the women in the newly-renovated kitchen. It's an especially fitting event for the American duchess, as it comes the day before Meghan's first Thanksgiving as a royal in London. (Although it's a U.S. holiday, Peoplehas pointed out that there are no rules stopping Meghan from celebrating it if she wants to.)

This is Meghan's first solo event since her royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand when she had tea at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in Fiji and visited Suva Market there.
