Mel Gibson and Danny Glover will be back for 'Lethal Weapon 5', says producer
While it's unlikely they'll be handcuffing people and jumping off buildings, the producer of the planned final movie in the Lethal Weapon series has revealed that Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are on board.
Dan Lin, who has also produced movies like Sherlock Holmes, It, Gangster Squad and the Lego movies, was speaking to The Hollywood Reporter around his new movie The Two Popes when he dropped the bombshell.

He also added that Richard Donner, the 89-year-old veteran director of the original movies, was back in the frame too.
“We're trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie. And Dick Donner's coming back,” he said during the round table chat.
“The original cast is coming back. And it's just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it's about the script.”
A potential fifth movie has been discussed for years, since at least 2007.
Then in 2017, Gibson himself hinted that a new project was rolling, while Deadline reported that Donner would be back in the director's chair too.
Donner also said last year that the movie, if it ended up being made, would be called Lethal Finale, and would be “very dark” and penned by Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth movie.

He added on the Maltin on Movies podcast last year that he wasn't too confident of it getting the green light, but this news from Lin, who also produced the rebooted Lethal Weapon TV series, could mean that the landscape has changed.
The original movie landed in 1987, with Glover as near-retirement homicide detective Roger Murtaugh, who's unexpectedly paired with wild narcotics detective Martin Riggs, who has suicidal tendencies.
Three more movies emerged following the first hit, starring the likes of Gary Busey, Joe Pesci, Rene Russo, Chris Rock and Jet Li, to diminishing critical returns.
