Melania took to her Twitter to write about how she wants people to “come together in celebration of our diversity.”
February is #BlackHistoryMonth. Let us come together in celebration of our diversity to remember our past and look towards our future.
— Melania Trump (@FLOTUS) February 1, 2019
Shortly after she posted her message, however, people weren’t shy about asking Melania whether she really cares about the celebration. Many have also implored her to remind her husband to recognize it himself.
you really don’t care do you melanie.your tweets are so superficial and just lip service.

Maybe you should sit this one out FLOTUS.

When have you ever celebrated diversity?
— erin shirley (@eshirley5) February 1, 2019
Is this a joke. Your concept of diversity is Chanel, Burberry, Gucci, Prada.
— michael bikales (@michaelbikales) February 1, 2019
Tell that to your husband.

One person even pointed out that the “celebration of our diversity” isn’t even the point of the annual observance of Black History Month.
Black History Month is NOT a “celebration of our diversity.” It is a time for recognition of the many, too often un/under-recognized but significant contributions of African Americans in this country. #BlackHistoryMonth

Still, plenty of others have praised FLOTUS for her tweet and have even thanked her “for being who you are!”
Keep doing what you do. MAGA 🇺🇸

The president also added his message of support on Friday afternoon, hours after the first lady tweeted.
National African American History Month is an occasion to rediscover the enduring stories of African Americans and the gifts of freedom, purpose, and opportunity they have bestowed on future generations…https://t.co/n9kf58NruZ
