- Over 9,000 students around the world have used the Mendix platform
- 500 students became Mendix Rapid Developer Certified in 2018 alone
BOSTON, May 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Mendix, a Siemens business and the global leader in low-code for the enterprise, today announced that more than 100 universities across the U.S., UK, Netherlands, and nine other countries have incorporated the Mendix University Program into their curricula. To date, over 9,000 students have signed up for the Mendix platform and have created 22,000 innovative, working applications. In 2018 alone, 500 students became "Mendix Rapid Developer" certified through the Mendix University Program.
The Mendix University Program equips students to successfully build applications for their future employers without coding, whether their studies followed a technical track or a more general business program. Armed with a level of mastery of the Mendix platform, graduates can promote collaboration between business and IT teams, facilitate solutions that more precisely and efficiently address the business need, and rapidly build and deploy applications that deliver business impact.
Penn State University is the 100th university to join the Mendix University Program. Professor Alan Peslak of the Information Sciences and Technology department at Penn State Scranton has incorporated Mendix technology into the syllabus for his "Fundamentals of Enterprise and Systems Integration" course.
"I am thrilled to implement Mendix in my curriculum this semester and am proud of the students who have been rapidly progressing through the Rapid Developer Learning Path and are also building independent project applications within Mendix," Peslak said. "Mendix provides an ideal environment for developing a start-to-finish web project with systems analysis and design and agile principles, but without undue emphasis on coding and syntax. I'm confident that future employers will value the knowledge and experiences the students will bring to the workforce thanks to their experiences with Mendix in the classroom."
Mendix is the only low-code platform that offers open courseware, online training videos, certification exams, sample syllabi, real-world business use cases, and technology licenses to university and college professors, completely free with no costs incurred.
"We are thrilled to celebrate the 100 universities and more than 9,000 students around the world who have leveraged the Mendix University Program within the classroom," said Derek Roos, CEO at Mendix. "We created the Mendix University Program to address the staggering disparity between the skill sets that employers expect from entry-level employees and the knowledge that those individuals actually possess. We are consistently impressed with the creative applications that students develop with Mendix, and we are looking forward to seeing what they make in 2019 and beyond."
