Mental Health America of the MidSouth provides free, confidential screening tools at www.mhamidsouth.org. Available screenings include addiction, anxiety, bipolar, depression, eating disorder, postpartum depression, psychosis, PTSD, and youth mental health. Individuals are encouraged to print their results and to discuss those results with a physician or a therapist.

"More than 40,000 individuals completed a screening assessment last year. Of those individuals, 31 percent screened positive for depression," said Jackie Cavnar, Chief Operating Officer at Mental Health America of the MidSouth.

Twenty percent of the individuals screened positive for bipolar, and 19 percent screened positive for anxiety.

"One in five Tennesseans will experience a mental health condition during their life. It is ok to ask for help before you or a loved one experiences a crisis," Cavnar said.
