On a per-share basis, the Peabody, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 29 cents.
The holding company for East Boston Savings Bank posted revenue of $68.3 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $46.4 million.
Meridian Bancorp shares have increased 16 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $16.66, a decrease of 18 percent in the last 12 months.
