Meridian Bancorp posts 1Q profit

PEABODY, Mass. (AP) _ Meridian Bancorp Inc. (EBSB) on Tuesday reported first-quarter profit of $9.2 million.

The Peabody, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 18 cents per share.

The holding company for East Boston Savings Bank posted revenue of $45.8 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $37.4 million.

Meridian Bancorp shares have climbed almost 2 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $19.20, an increase of 36 percent in the last 12 months.
