PHOENIX (AP) _ Mesa Air Group Inc. (MESA) on Monday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $19.1 million.

The Phoenix-based company said it had net income of 55 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.

The regional airline posted revenue of $178.2 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $176.4 million.

Mesa Air shares have risen 17 percent since the beginning of the year.
