Mexico's Alsea racks up losses for third straight quarter

MEXICO CITY, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Mexican restaurant operator Alsea on Wednesday reported a net loss of 856.4 million pesos ($38.7 million) in the third quarter, its third consecutive loss under the economic crush of the coronavirus pandemic.

Its net loss corresponding to owners of the parent company, a separate measure of performance, was 971 million pesos.

The company, which operates franchises of coffee chain Starbucks in various markets worldwide, posted net sales in the July to September period of 9.8 billion pesos, down 32.4% from a year ago. ($1 = 22.1050 pesos at end-September) (Reporting by Daina Beth Solomon and Noe Torres)
