Michigan gets nearly $9.4M for rail upgrades

KALAMZOO, Mich. (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation says Michigan is getting nearly $9.4 million for rail line upgrades.

The funding announced Thursday for the Michigan Department of Transportation will go to improvements on tracks between Kalamazoo and Dearborn.

The money is part of $474 million going to projects in 37 states. Funds are from the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER, program.
