Microsoft hit by executive exit

The software giant's shares gapped down in more than twice usual volume a day after the company said Steven Sinofsky, president of the Windows operating system unit and the executive in charge of Windows development, left the company. Sinofsky's departure was apparently perceived by investors as a sign of trouble at the company. He was succeeded by Julie Larson-Green, one of his lieutenants, who will lead all Windows software and hardware engineering now. Microsoft (MSFT) shares fell 3.2% to 27.09.
