Midday index, ETF option volumes

More than 6.2 million options have traded so far today, with bullish sentiment coming through in some of the top indexes and ETFs, according to optionMONSTER data systems.

The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY) has 701,000 options traded, with 425,000 puts. Next up is the iShares China Large-Cap Fund (FXI) with 216,000 contracts, 160,000 of which are calls.

The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has 176,000 options turning over, with 116,000 calls. Just behind are the S&P 500 Index (:SPX) options at 172,000 and a put/call ratio of 2 to 1.

The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 142,000 contracts changing hands, with calls outpacing puts by 3 to 1. The PowerShares QQQ Trust (:QQQ) has seen 132,000 move, with puts just outnumbering calls. The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 91,000 options traded, with 56,000 puts.
