Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay joked that he "might need a couple of drinks to relax" following a record-breaking 54-51 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
In a match that featured 14 touchdowns and 1,001 combined yards, the Rams stretched their 2018 record to 10-1, becoming the first team to hit double figures this season.
And McVay conceded he may need some help to come down from the adrenaline of such a frantic game - the first in NFL history to see both teams surpass 50 points.
"It was a whirlwind," McVay said. "I feel like I might need a couple of beverages to relax, but it was great. This is what you love so much about the game.
"It was fun. I don't know if I would say it was fun from a defensive standpoint but there was a lot of good football.
"An exciting back-and-forth match-up and it came down to... until those final seconds ticked off you really weren't able to breathe at all.
"It was a highly competitive game and, even though there were a lot of points scored, I think there was still a lot of great play from defense and some different things, and they were responsible for a couple of points on the board.
"It was a great match-up but it was just one game and there's a lot of football left.
"We've got to do a great job making sure that we respond, get ourselves as healthy as possible and we're refreshed and ready to go when we play the Lions coming back from the bye."
The Rams dedicated the match to the first responders and victims involved in recent tragedies in California, including the wildfires and the Borderline Bar shooting in Thousand Oaks.
"I think they wanted to use this game as a chance to try and give some relief to some of the people that have gone through a lot of things, whether it's people with the fires or some of the shooting victims," added McVay.
"I think it's about being a representation of this community in the right way, with the way that we compete, the way that they stay connected and stay together.
"Those things are a lot bigger than a game but I think that our guys wanted to be able to put a good product out there and represent the community in the right way.
"I think they did that."
