"I had to," she confessed to Stern. "I don't like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole."

"So, I don't think that I have that co-dependency," she continued. "I think people that break up and get back together, that's awesome. You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you're growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being."

Cyrus and Hemsworth met on the set of their 2009 Nicholas Sparks film, "The Last Song," and dated for a handful of years before reportedly getting engaged. Cyrus called off the engagement in 2013, the same year that she famously transformed for her divisive Bangerz era.

Since reuniting towards the end of 2015, the couple has been notoriously private about their relationship, though they've shared a bunch of photos of one another at home with their dogs in Malibu on their respective Instagram accounts.

The pair has also continued to fuel engagement rumors in recent years, as well.
