Miller High Life Wants to Ordain You as a Minister to Officiate Weddings
It's a known issue at weddings: Someone takes advantage of the open bar and, an incalculable number of beers later, gives a speech that mortifies the couple for as long as they both shall live. But this wedding season, Miller High Life wants to make sure beer actually does something helpful at weddings. The Champagne of Beers has teamed up with none other than the Universal Life Church to create their own cadre of legal wedding officiants, aptly named the Officiants of High Life.
Founded in the 1950s, the Universal Life Church (ULC) describes itself as "a non-denominational religious organization that brings together people from all walks of life" — but it has perhaps become best known for the ease at which the church will ordain people as ministers, allowing them to legally perform weddings.
This new partnership with Miller High Life brings that reputation to sudsy new heights: Anyone can now head to HitchedByHighLife.com to receive their official officiant status. Simply click on "Become an Officiant of High Life," create an account through the ULC with your name and email address, certify that you are 18 years of age or older, and then click "GET ORDAINED!"
Once completed, you can provide a shipping address to be sent a free Officiants of High Life package which includes an Officiant of High Life membership card and business cards, along with the chance to score a limited-edition High Life x Tie Bar formalwear gift set. (The site says these packages are limited and replenished daily through June 15.)
Additionally, ULC and High Life offer tips on how to perform a wedding, how to complete a marriage license, and an official "Hitched by High Life" wedding script which opens with "Thank you all for coming… Under your seat, you'll find a bottle of High Life" and concludes with "I now pronounce you drinking partners for life" (with plenty of other beer-y nuggets along the way).
