Minister Raitt Announces Reappointment to the Canada Industrial Relations Board

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov 28, 2012) - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada''s Labour Minister, today announced the reappointment of Mr. William Terrance Lineker as a part-time member representing employers to the Canada Industrial Relations Board for a three-year term effective January 14, 2013.

"Mr. Lineker, with his extensive experience and expertise in the field of labour relations, will continue to make a meaningful contribution to the Board," said Minister Raitt.

During his career, Mr. Lineker has held senior positions in labour relations at a number of organizations throughout Canada, including Forest Industrial Relations, Canadian National Railway, Abitibi-Price, the Cape Breton Development Corporation, Petro-Canada, Inco and Canada Packers.

Mr. Lineker has developed strong relations with many industry leaders, including various labour unions across Canada, and has extensive experience in the federal jurisdiction as former Assistant Vice-President, Labour Relations, at Canadian National Railway.

The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Health and Safety) of the Canada Labour Code. The Board''s expertise and composition allow it to deal effectively with the complexities of labour relations issues, to determine the underlying causes of disputes and to facilitate agreement among the parties.
