Miranda Lambert Talks Blake Shelton Divorce, New Album

Country singer Miranda Lambert recently opened up about her divorce from Blake Shelton, as well as her decision not to create a stereotypical breakup album after their split.

While speaking with Billboard, Lambert recounted the time she went to the studio to record “Vice” with songwriter Shane McAnally. On the same day, news about her divorce from Shelton made headlines. “I walked in with guns blazing. I just knew one thing: I didn’t want a breakup record. I was like, ‘Let’s feel it all.’ I was ready to have the days where I can’t even stand up and the day where I’m celebrating,” she said.

In November 2016, Lambert released her album, “The Weight of These Wings,” without much hype. “I just didn’t need to talk about the record. If you want to hear my side of the story or my opinion of what happened, it’s all on there. There’s no mystery anymore – take from it what you will,” she said.

But if there’s one important thing she learned from ending her marriage with Shelton it is that it’s necessary to not take pain for granted. According to the singer, she knows she will not look at things the same way ever again after everything that she has been through.

In 2016, Shelton spoke with Billboard about his controversial song, “She’s Got a Way With Words,” that told the story of a woman who lied and cheated. There were immediate speculations that the song was about Lambert, and the latter could’ve cheated on “The Voice” coach.

“When we recorded the vocals for some of these songs, I was only six months removed from when all the crap went down. When you have a broken heart – at least, when I do – you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell,” he explained.

Shelton added that fans could get an idea about his failed marriage to Lambert in his “If I’m Honest” album. He and Lambert were married for four years and were together for six years before they announced their decision to split in July 2015, according to People.
