Mitchell Partners With EvoNexus to Drive San Diego Technology Innovation

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 1, 2014) - Mitchell International today announced the launch of Mitchell@EvoNexus, a Mitchell-sponsored San Diego business incubation program operating within the CommNexus incubator, EvoNexus. The new program enables local startups to accelerate their product and business development by providing financial support, use of co-working space, access to mentors and collaboration opportunities.

Mitchell@EvoNexus targets early-stage technology entrepreneurs working on big ideas with the potential to reshape their industries. As a leading provider of technology, connectivity and information solutions to the Property & Casualty (P&C) claims and Collision Repair industries, Mitchell is particularly interested in startups addressing improving driving behavior through the use of vehicle telematics, improving injury recovery through the use of health analytics, and in creative ways to improve outcomes in auto property and injury. Mitchell is also interested in supporting companies working in spaces such as big data, mobility for insurance claims, and consumer health.

"Mitchell is committed to increasing innovation within the San Diego technology community, and EvoNexus is the perfect partner to collaborate with on this mission," said Vidya Dinamani, vice president, innovation and design at Mitchell. "The Mitchell@EvoNexus incubator program provides a foundation to fast-track the growth of startups in technology industries strategically aligned with Mitchell's key focus areas."

"Founded in 1946 after World War II, when the auto industry returned to the production of automobiles instead of tanks and planes, Mitchell International has become a world leader of information services to the insurance property and casualty industry, an industry that also returned to normality following WWII and the build out of our nation's highway system under the Eisenhower presidency. I mention that history to scale the significance of Mitchell's importance to our region and their impact with new innovation being created here," said Rory Moore, CEO of CommNexus. "We're honored and excited to work with Mitchell to assist startups working to solve complex problems through technology that could impact all of us."

Mitchell and EvoNexus are now inviting companies to apply for participation in the Mitchell@EvoNexus program via a call for submissions, which opens July 31, 2014. Companies admitted into the joint incubator program have the opportunity to receive seed funding up to $250,000. Early-stage technology startups who are interested in reviewing additional information and / or applying prior to the August 31, 2014 deadline can access the application at: http://www.commnexus.org/evonexus/apply/
