ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) _ MKS Instruments Inc. (MKSI) on Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of $47.4 million.
On a per-share basis, the Andover, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 86 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.12 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 86 cents per share.
The maker of analysis and processing equipment for semiconductor companies posted revenue of $462.5 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $443.1 million.
For the current quarter ending in December, MKS Instruments expects its per-share earnings to range from 85 cents to $1.19.
MKS Instruments shares have risen 46% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $94.64, a climb of 29% in the last 12 months.
