MELVILLE, NY--(Marketwired - May 02, 2013) - North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the leading single specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the United States, announced today that Deputy CEO and Chief Medical Officer John Di Capua, M.D., was recognized by Long Island Business News in its "Who's Who in Health Care" special section on April 19, 2013. The weekly business journal based in Ronkonkoma, New York, runs this special feature on an annual basis.
The health care industry is one of the fastest changing industries in the world, with Long Island home to some of its most visionary leaders. In his profile, Dr. Di Capua discusses NAPA's plans to concentrate resources on developing an independent software platform that will capture electronic medical information within the OR setting. This area of focus demonstrates NAPA's commitment to providing value to the organization's hospital partners by driving innovation, providing critical metrics and reporting and defining best practices -- while eliminating costs.
"I am honored to be represented in this distinguished group of health care leaders," said Dr. Di Capua. "With the evolution of health care, it is particularly important to recognize those individuals and organizations that are at the forefront of change and dedicating efforts to developing systems and processes for improvement within our industry."
Board certified in anesthesia and pain management, Dr. Di Capua joined the North Shore -LIJ Health System in 1994 where he sits as the Peter F. R. Walker Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the recently opened Hofstra-NSLIJ School of Medicine. As the Chief Medical Officer of NAPA, Dr. Di Capua supervises over 1,000 anesthesia providers in 38 hospitals covering over 700,000 anesthesia cases per year.
Dr. Di Capua trained in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by fellowships in pain management and cardiothoracic anesthesia. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for a year before joining the North Shore -LIJ Health System.
