Nashville forward Viktor Arvidsson was just trying to clear the puck.

Late in the third quarter on Sunday night in Game 2 of the Predators’ second-round playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets, Arvidsson went to flip the puck up the ice and away from his own goal. Instead of continuing up the ice, like normal, the puck went airborne.

The puck flew up and hit the scoreboard hanging over center ice at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, sending a LCD panel crashing down onto the ice.

Yes, really.

Play stopped momentarily to clear the pieces of screen off the ice before resetting with a faceoff. The Predators won the game against the Jets 5-4 in double overtime, tying up the series 1-1.

Game 3 of the series will take place on Thursday in Winnipeg, so the maintenance crew at Bridgestone Arena has a little extra time to fix the scoreboard before the Predators take the ice at home again.
