CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) _ Natural Alternatives International Inc. (NAII) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $2.2 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Carlsbad, California-based company said it had profit of 31 cents per share.

The nutritional supplements manufacturer posted revenue of $36 million in the period.

Natural Alternatives shares have risen 14 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $11.25, a decline of slightly more than 1 percent in the last 12 months.
