Welcome to the NBA DFS Bargains column, where we’ll sort through value plays in salary cap formats like FanDuel and DraftKings. Please take note that this article was created earlier in the day, so pertinent injury information and breaking news could add or subtract bargain situations. Paying attention to our NBA News & Headlines feed is a great way to stay on top of everything.
The injury news is coming in fast and furious today, so you’ll definitely want to monitor the latest happenings.
With that, let’s go ahead and dive into the bargain bin!
FANDUEL & DRAFTKINGS BARGAINS
Delon Wright – SG – Memphis (FD: $5100 / DK: $4900)
Wright wasn’t efficient with his 41 minutes vs Houston on Wednesday (21 FP), but that should change tonight. Mike Conley is doubtful for Memphis, meaning Wright will see more usage, minutes, and ball-handling responsibilities. The last time Conley was sidelined, Wright posted a terrific 44 FP performance through 36 minutes at Oklahoma City on March 3. Consider him a strong source of value through all formats while facing an Orlando team that ranks middle-of-the-pack against opposing backcourts.
Emmanuel Mudiay – PG – New York (FD: $5200 / DK: $5100)
The matchup doesn’t look great with Mudiay facing his former team (Denver), but his role should be solidified around 33-35 minutes with Dennis Smith Jr and Allonzo Trier out yet again. That has helped Mudiay post 27+ fantasy points in three of his past five, hitting 37 and 41 fantasy points in those other two. There’s some volatile here caused by blowout risk, rotational quirks, and general inconsistencies. However, Mudiay is a respectable DFS option through all formats with a cheap salary and full helping of minutes.
Fred VanVleet – PG – Toronto (FD: $5600 / DK: $5300)
Kyle Lowry will remain sidelined for the Raptors, leaving VanVleet to pick up the slack in Toronto’s backcourt. That was the case on Wednesday, as VanVleet posted a strong 35 FP performance through 40 minutes against the same Oklahoma City team he’ll see tonight. The Thunder rank second overall in pace, which could help VanVleet see more opportunities on top of the expanded minutes. I’ll be buying up shares through all formats on both DFS sites.
Tyler Dorsey – SG – Memphis (FD: $3700 / DK: $3000)
If you haven’t noticed, there are plenty of bargains in the backcourt tonight. You could realistically take all four of these featured players while saving enough cap space to pay top dollar in the frontcourt … As mentioned earlier, Conley is doubtful for Memphis. Wright was already seeing heavy minutes prior to that, so Memphis will need to find someone to absorb the majority of Conley’s minutes. Enter Dorsey, who has tallied 43 fantasy points over 55 total minutes in the past three games. He could see 30 minutes tonight, which would put him on pace for a baseline of 24 fantasy points. Of course, there’s upside beyond that if Dorsey can soak up any of the usage vacated by Conley. Either way, that represents a strong value for a near-minimum price.
Derrick Jones Jr.(SF – MIA) sets up as a potential value option with Justise Winslow and Rodney McGruder doubtful for Miami. Jones saw 31 minutes in that situation on Wednesday at San Antonio but only posted 15 fantasy points. He’s a risk/reward pick who could pay dividends if he decides to capitalize on the extra playing time.
Mario Hezonja (SF – NYK) is another injury-contingent bargain who depends on the (questionable) status of Noah Vonleh. If Vonleh missed his fourth straight game, Hezonja steps in as a reasonable bargain who is averaging 27 fantasy points and 29 minutes over his past three.
The following bargains were labeled as risk/reward picks in today’s NBA GPP Pivots article:
- D.J. Augustin – PG – Orlando
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – PG – LA Clippers
- Damyean Dotson – SG – New York
- Rudy Gay – SF – San Antonio
- Cedi Osman – SF – Cleveland
- JaVale McGee – C – LA Lakers
