Neighbours legend Jason Donovan has shared that he cried happy tears when he found out that his daughter Jemma had been cast.
Jemma Donovan currently plays Harlow Robinson on the Australian soap, having made her first appearance on screen in July 2019.
"I remember getting the phone call from my agent saying, 'I've got some news', and I cried," an emotional Jason said to The Australian Women's Weekly.
"It just made me so happy that she has an opportunity, that there is a foundation, and a good reason for it. Neighbours is the perfect home for Jemma."
Jemma said: "I love that people associate us together, but I want to show people I'm not just on Neighbours for my last name. I need to prove to people that I can do this. That was also great because it gave me a lot of drive."
Jason added that he's "very proud" of his daughter and that she is "passionate" about her acting.
Jason, who played Scott Robinson between 1986 and 1989, recently visited the Neighbours set and shared pictures of himself and Jemma on Ramsay Street.
"30 years ago, this street changed my life. Lots of memories, man. Lots of memories," he said in an Instagram video.
Jemma's character Harlow will be seen reacting to her mother Prue Wallace's surprising engagement to Gary Canning in next week's episodes.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
