Neil Patrick Harris, NBC and Warner Bros. Sued by Injured 'Genius Junior' Audience Member
A woman who claims she was injured during a taping of the short-lived kids game show "Genius Junior" is suing the show's host, Neil Patrick Harris, and a slew of others to get someone to pay up for her injuries.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a woman named Carlotta Peart claims she was a paid audience member for a taping of "Genius Junior" on August 11, 2017. The show was taped on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, CA.
Peart claims she had to use the restroom during the taping and was allowed to so, along with others, by someone who served as an "audience wrangler."
Presumably after she was done, Peart claims the audience wrangler "ordered" her to "hurry back and run through a darkened area because they were starting filming and they did not want to have any empty seats."
She says she was "running at the direction of the 'audience wrangler' in the dark when she tripped and fell due to the dangerous condition of a recessed area of the floor that was not sufficiently lit to be seen and avoided."
Peart claims her injuries caused her "great physical, mental and nervous pain and suffering." She also claims her injuries "will result in some permanent disability."
She is suing Neil Patrick Harris, Warner Bros., NBC Universal, Shed Entertainment (the company that produced the show) and others for negligence and premises liability and is seeking unspecified damages.
The Blast reached out to reps for Harris, Warner Bros., NBC and Shed Entertainment for comment but none of them has responded.
"Genius Junior" aired for 10 episodes in 2018. It featured teams of children aged 12 and under competing in various brain-teasing challenges.
