Netizens aren’t crazy about this overpass over a footbridge in Quezon City

If you thought walking down the stairs was hard, take a look at this peculiar sight.

Facebook user Danna Galendez shared yesterday a now-viral photo of a pedestrian overpass over a footbridge along Commonwealth Ave in Quezon City.

Don’t even say it– we know it’s an overpassception.

She says in the post in Filipino: “I almost passed out at the top. This overpass is too much.”

Galendez told Coconuts Manila through Facebook messenger that it was her first time to cross the unbelievably high footbridge yesterday which serves as the connecting bridge from one side of Central Ave. to the other where commuters take public transportation heading to Fairview.

“I took it yesterday when I was about to go home after school,” she said. “It was nerve-wracking! With the height of that overpass, I’m sure every person who will pass it will surely feel what I felt too.”

She said it wasn’t there the previous day (Tuesday) and that there was a note by the old bridge which said it would be closed on Tuesday night until Wednesday morning.

The 18-year-old suspects that that was when constructions workers built the new overpass to make way for the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT7) project.

The MRT7 is a rapid-transit line currently under construction which will take those based in the province of Bulacan to Quezon City in just 30 minutes, 1 hour and 30 minutes earlier than the usual commute.

The 23-kilometer elevated railway will reportedly have 14 stations, starting from North Avenue in Quezon City up to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, Rappler reported. It was initially scheduled for completion for 2020, but due to right-of-way issues, it might be completed in 2021 instead.

Galendez’s Facebook post had over 4,900 likes and 5,900 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens couldn’t help but chime in their thoughts about the footbridge.

Facebook user Benn Joseph C. Molina joked in Filipino: “This goes to heaven already!”

Irene Verceles Parayaoan tagged a friend and wrote: “So this is why you don’t want to use an overpass.”

“Crap, will I be able to cross this? HAHAHAHA,” said Cassandra Mae Oquiño.

Patt Clariño said she’d never go to that overpass. Harsh, Patt.

Amer Brazal quipped: “You don’t even have to climb a mountain anymore.”

“I’m already out of breath when I walk up a normal overpass. It seems so hard to walk there,” said Marie Ariel Chua.

Trish Roque pointed out the obvious that it’s better to have this than to risk your life crossing the highway. “All you guys do is complain,” she added.
