Newell Appoints VP, Global e-Commerce

The producer of Sharpie pens and Rubbermaid containers, Newell Rubbermaid Inc. (NWL), appointed Jeremy Liebowitz as the Vice President, Global E-Commerce. Liebowitz, in the newly created position, will be in charge of speeding up the company’s online revenue growth across the globe with immediate effect.

In his new role, Liebowitz will report to the company’s Chief Development Officer, Mark Tarchetti, in association with the Chief Customer Officer Joe Cavaliere.

Liebowitz will be responsible for increasing its online presence with existing consumers and developing a long-term channel strategy to drive growth. In this effort, Liebowitz will devise a reliable global strategy that will guarantee suitable measures to position the company for growth. As VP Global E-Commerce, Liebowitz will be focused on improving Newell’s offering to customers, working in partnership with customer development leaders.

Liebowitz is a well established name in the industry possessing more than 18 years of experience in building successful e-Commerce platforms. Most recently, he accomplished substantial online revenue growth multiples over a five-year term, working as Vice President of Digital Commerce and Marketing for Jarden Corp. (JAH). Prior to this, Liebowitz was entrusted with important e-Commerce roles at Limited Brands Inc, now known as L Brands Inc. (LTD), and TracFone Wireless Inc.

Meanwhile, Newell’s first-quarter 2013 adjusted earnings per share came in at of 35 cents, beating the year-ago quarter earnings of 32 cents resulting from better operating performance, lower interest expenses and a favorable tax rate.

However, net sales declined marginally to $1,240.8 million compared with $1,250.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Core sales of the company inched up 0.2%, excluding the negative impact from foreign currency translation.
