THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) _ Newpark Resources Inc. (NR) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $10.6 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The The Woodlands, Texas-based company said it had net income of 11 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 13 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.
The oil and gas industry supplier posted revenue of $247.7 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported net income of $32.3 million, or 35 cents per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $946.5 million.
Newpark shares have increased 20 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $8.25, an increase of roughly 1 percent in the last 12 months.
