NEW YORK (AP) _ News Corp. (NWSA) on Thursday reported a loss of $371 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The New York-based company said it had a loss of 64 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and asset impairment costs, came to 8 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.
