News Corp unveils new logo for 21st Century Fox ahead of coming split
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- News Corp. is unveiling a new corporate logo that emphasizes its focus on Hollywood as it prepares to spin off its newspaper division and be renamed 21st Century Fox.
In an animated video accompanying the logo, two Hollywood-style spotlights sweep the sky before coming to rest amid futuristic sounds.
The name for the company that will house the movie and TV assets is a modern take on the movie studio name, 20th Century Fox. The publishing company to be spun off by the end of June will keep the name News Corp.
In a memo, CEO and founder Rupert Murdoch said the new logo "signals the promise of the 21st century and our restless drive toward the future."
