EXPANDING CARRIER: Allegiant Air, which has traditionally focused on Las Vegas, is adding service to 10 new airports, taking advantage of service cuts in the East after the merger of AirTran and Southwest.
THE ROUTES: The carrier is flying to destinations in New York, New Hampshire, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Kansas. Allegiant will now serve 99 airports across the country, two more than Southwest Airlines, the largest domestic carrier.
ABOUT ALLEGIANT: The leisure-focused airline mostly flies from small, underserved cities to sunny vacation destinations. It earns commissions by aggressively pitching travelers hotels, rental cars and show tickets.
