News Summary: Kia recalls 96K vans over suspension

News Summary: Kia recalls 96K-plus minivans to fix problem caused by rusty suspension parts

LOSING CONTROL: Kia Motors Corp. is recalling more than 96,000 Sedona minivans in the U.S. and Canada because a suspension part can break and cause drivers to lose control of the vehicles.

TOO MUCH SALT: The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the lower control arms near the wheels can rust and break due to salt exposure. Kia dealers will inspect the parts and rustproof or replace them for free starting next month.

SCOPE: The recalled minivans were made from 2006 through 2012. They were sold or registered in Canada and in 20 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear roads in the winter.
