ALL YOU CAN READ: Online document-sharing site Scribd is launching a subscription service that will provide unlimited access to thousands of books from HarperCollins for $9 per month. The library will include most HarperCollins books published before July 2012.
OPENING CHAPTER: HarperCollins is the first of the five major U.S. book publishers to join forces with Scribd in its attempt to create a new distribution channel for digital fiction. Scribd still hopes to enlist HarperCollins' main rivals, Hachette, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Penguin Random House.
